The name Biscotto
Biscotti are the homemade cookies Italian grandmothers (Nonna) bake with love: cantucci, ricciarelli, and all the humble, simple treats that “feel like home”. They’re sweet, and crafted with care, just like the pieces I send through Biscotto Snail Mail.
But Biscotto is also the warm, earthy color once common in Roman ceramics, a soft terracotta tone that feels timeless. Italy, as the cultural heir of the Roman Empire, carries this color through its history: you can still see it today in the bricks of the traditional Italian homes, glowing under the sun.
